So I couldn't think of a title for this post because it is so random. It is the tale of how my blow dryer and my doorbell are connected. A couple of days ago Reuben told me that my new house smells like an old lady died in it so I have been a little on edge with all the noises I hear during the day and night. Ridiculous, I know, but it got me a little scared. Anyway, then on Sunday morning I was blow drying my hair and I heard the doorbell ring so I went to the door and no one was there. I thought I was being doorbell ditched so I turned the dryer back on and it rang twice this time. I decided to ignore it and keep drying my hair. It rang twice more before my hair was all the way dry.

Then this morning I decided to dry my hair and, to my surprise, the doorbell started ringing as soon as I turned on the dryer. I think I laughed the entire time I was drying my hair because I was amused at the fact that my doorbell rings when I dry my hair and that I had let myself think my house was haunted!

Immitation is the greatest form of flattery!

These kids beg me everyday to play the movie of Mary Deane dancing so that they can dance like her. We do a lot of dancing in my class and I think they have found their inspiration. Thanks Mary Deane!

Jealousy

So like I have mentioned before, kids talk! I teach another class for science and so I always introduce myself and show pictures of my family and of course I showed some pictures of Mary Deane. Well, my kids came in today all upset and said, "Ms. Jones, you showed the other class pictures of Mary Deane and our stuck video." I responded with, "Yes, I did because I think it is cute." They then said, "Well, don't because she is our class mascot and nobody else's and we don't want to share her."

I think I have created little monsters!

P.S. I have the keys to my new condo and will post pictures soon when I get some stuff in there!

They Understand Eachother

My students sometimes speak their own language and I am not a part of it. It is actually fun to watch them interact with each other and get to know each other. Today, we were doing an art project and they were working silently on it and one of my students turns to me and says, "Ms. Jones, can we watch "Stuck or Signature Dance Move?" I looked at him inquisitively and asked, "what is that?" The whole class looked at me like I was the dumbest person on earth and all said, almost together, "The movies of Mary Deane!" They love her and they all knew what he was talking about. It was so funny.

Dear me,

So I always laugh at those smoking commercials where the people write letters to themselves and read them. I always think, who does that? Then I realized that I do that all the time in my head and even sometimes on paper. This is the letter I wrote to myself last night.

Dear me,

What made you the way that you are? Why are you so sensitive sometimes? Why are you so scared to just trust people and let them in and see the real you? Why don't you just lose yourself in service? Why can't you enjoy the small amazing moments in your life that are happening right now instead of worrying so much about the future? Why can't you express yourself in the way that you want to? Why can't you just let go and rely completely on the Lord? Trust Him! He knows what He is doing better than anyone else. He also knows you better than anyone else does.

Love me.

So I guess I won't be judging those commercials anymore!

Not to toot my own horn but...

I love parent teacher conferences because the parents get a chance to tell me how much their student loves having me as a teacher. It gives me more energy to be an even better teacher. One mom almost made me cry last night because she said such kind words. "You have changed her life. She loves coming to your class and she has so much more self confidence since you became her teacher." That was my goal in becoming a teacher so it was great to hear that I have made a tiny difference in the life of one child.
My little boy that has a crush on my was adorable too. He just kept telling me that he loves having me as his teacher and then he would blush. It made me giggle.
I also have a renewed "testimony" of how important the parents are in the success of the student in school. It is amazing to see the relationships that these parents have with their kids and how amazing they are.

Kind Knudsens

So this is the best picture I could find with the most people in it and I stole it from Ann's blog. This picture is missing spouses and the parents of these beautiful kids.
This is my sister-in law's amazing family! I was invited to their family dinner yesterday down in Provo and I just love how comfortable they make me feel. They all wanted to know about my life and what I was up to and they are just the nicest people I have ever met. They have always treated me like family because I am family to their sister and daughter. I hope that my own in laws are this amazing and that the in laws of my other siblings are this amazing. The Knudsen clan sure are hard to compete with though!
